You’re ready to start the
Fall semester and already know that you’re interested in getting involved on
campus. You’ve heard people mention that sororities are a great way to get
involved but you may still be wondering, “What will I get out of sorority
life that I would not get out of any other college organization?”
Great question! We’ve got an answer.
Sorority membership
requires a greater commitment given the numerous activities that sorority women
take part in –community service, fundraising, leadership training, sisterhood
retreats, social events, sporting activities, academic programming, life skills
development (to name a few). These activities, repeated over the span of
your college years means that you spend more time with your sororities sisters
and have more shared experiences together then you would in most
organizations. This is why members often compare their sorority to a “family”
or “home away from home”. The support network that you will experience in
joining a sorority will make the campus seem a little smaller and
friendlier.
