Region Weekend Awards
Our chapter won the Philanthropic Excellence Award in all of Region 10 this past semester!  This award is given to the chapter with the highest amount of hours and funds raised.  We received the award due to our average of 35 hours and $58 donated per sister throughout the past semester!  We are so proud of our VP of Philanthropy Jessica Small for organizing some great events, while ensuring and assisting our sisters to stay on track of their philanthropic endeavors.  Keep up the good work everyone!

Hamburgers For Hearing 2013

On April 3-4th  we held a fundraiser called Hamburgers for Hearing to raise awareness about hearing loss and to raise funds for the Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California.  The Hearing and Speech Center of Northern California is one of our local charities that our chapter supports, and through this particular event we were able to donate $400 to their organization and help them fund therapies and purchase hearing aids for their patients!  We invited the campus and community to eat hamburgers at Uncle Boys Restaurant, where 15% of each bill was then donated.  This event was Xi Lambda's efforts to participate in DZ's national Learn to Listen Week.

 Ali's Way 2013

On March 23, 2013 we held our annual Ali's Way fundraiser.  This yearly event honors the life of our sister Ali Facella, who passed away from Leukemia five years ago.  This semester we put a new spin on things and decided to make it a benefit concert; a night full of dancing, live music, and laughter among the SF community.  Ali was a lively and loving sister, and we are sure she would have been proud of all the hard work our Philanthropy chair Jessica Small put into it!  In addition to the main band Solwave's performance, we also hosted a raffle and silent auction with prizes such as a Kindle, Benefit Cosmetics and other amazing goodies.  Overall, we raised and donated more than $5,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!
