Relay For Life

“Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back.”

Relay for Life is a 24-hour walk-a-thon to benefit the American Cancer Society. The motto of this event is "Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back." Relay for Life is hosted at the university every year and this year it took place on Welsch Field, in between St. Ignatius Church and Kalmanovitz Hall. Their goal is to not only honor cancer survivors and remember lost loved ones, but also to raise funds and awareness to help save lives.

This year USF had over 167 participants and 14 teams, Delta Zeta being one of them. Together, USF raised $12, 631. Delta Zeta had 20 official walkers who raised over $850! This made the DZ team the 4th highest fundraiser.

Throughout the 24 hours there was music keeping students energized, and participants were playing games such as “jelly belly spoon race” and balloon races.

Elizabeth Nye, Delta Zeta’s Philanthropy Co-Chairwoman, stated, “During the night, a lot of the teams shared food and began walking around together as a group and it was really great to bond with people from across campus.”
